Renewable Clean Energy Technologies
Clean energy technologies are green energy alternatives to traditional fossil fuel sources such as coal or natural gas. Clean energy sources have less impact on the environment and are a foundation of the expanding green energy economy in the United States.

SOLAR ENERGY
Heat and light produced by the sun can be harnessed by solar panels and used for space heating, hot water, and to generate electricity.
WIND ENERGY
In addition to being a clean, local source of renewable energy, wind technology is currently one of the cheapest clean energy technologies. In some areas it is cost-competitive with fossil fuels.
HYDROELECTRIC POWER
Our planet is mostly covered by water. Hydropower technologies use water from many different sources including rivers, tides, waves, and currents to produce clean energy.
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
Geothermal energy technologies use heat within the earth as a source of energy. As hot water or steam, it can be used to generate electricity, and geothermal energy is also an efficient way to heat homes.
LANDFILL GAS & METHANE
Landfill gas, which is released as solid waste decomposes, is about 50 percent methane. Though technically not a renewable resource, landfill gas methane can be used to cost-effectively generate electricity.
