Clean Energy Technologies
Learn more about the most common types of clean energy technology:
SOLAR
Heat and light produced by the sun can be harnessed and used for space heating, hot water, and to generate electricity.
WIND
In addition to being a clean, local source of energy, wind technology is currently one of the cheapest clean energy technologies. In some areas it is cost-competitive with fossil fuels.
HYDRO
Our planet is mostly covered by water. Hydropower technologies use water from many different sources including rivers, tides, waves, and currents.
GEOTHERMAL
Geothermal technologies use heat within the earth as a source of energy. As hot water or steam, it can be used to generate electricity for the grid.
LANDFILL GAS & METHANE
Landfill gas, which is released as solid waste decomposes, is about 50 percent methane. Though technically not a renewable resource, this gas can be used to cost-effectively generate electricity.
